Dendrobium linguiforme is a tough miniature orchid from the Australian east coast, where it receives the occasional frost. The scented flowers are 3cm across with up to 30 on each spike. Can be grown in intermediate through to cool conditions in very bright to more shaded conditions. Plants are available either mounted or growing in bark.

Paphiopedilum delenatii is a scented mottled leaved slipper orchid from the mountains of Vietnam. The rounded, long-lasting flowers have broad pink petals which can span 8cm, the pouch is a darker pink, they are also covered in fine hairs. These plants have been raised from seed from pollinating two different plants which are so vigorous they regularly produce 2 flowers per spike. Paphiopedilums generally grow well in moderate shade, with frequent watering so the plants do not dry out completely in the growing season, with less frequent watering in the winter. In their natural habitat the temperature often falls to 9⁰C at night in the winter but the growing season is warm. Plants are growing in 7cm pots.

Maxillaria kautskyi is a scented and compact Brazilian orchid with numerous 2cm creamy yellow flowers. These have a white lip and splashes of purple around the edge of the petals. Can be grown in intermediate through to cool conditions in very bright to more shaded conditions. Plants are flowering size in 8cm pots.

Pleurothallis restrepioides is an easy to grow cold tolerant orchid from high in the South American mountains. The numerous, 1cm pendant, bell shaped flowers hang from the upright flower spike, they are cream with many reddish brown spots.

Dendrobium kingianum is a deservedly popular Australian orchid that is able to tolerate temperatures down to freezing. Racemes of honey scented, pink flowers are produced in spring after a dry winter rest.
