Sending Seed

Seed should be sent as soon as possible after harvest to increase the likelihood of it remaining viable and to reduce the chance of it becoming contaminated. To maximise chances of success we recommend the following:

  1. Dry seed, tap seed out of the capsule onto a sheet of paper. Green capsule, ensure it is dry and also place on a sheet of paper.
  2. Fold the paper in half ensuring the seed/capsule is in the centre of the crease.
  3. Fold in each of the sides twice and then fold the top over twice and secure with tape.
  4. Label each seed packet with your name, date and either the orchid name or your own identifying number (if you wish to keep the parentage confidential). However, if you do submit the capsule without disclosing its name it is helpful for us to know the genus as some require specialised media or procedures.
  5. Place packets in a padded envelope to prevent seed being damaged. Don't forget to include the details requested below.

Payment

Either send a cheque for £5.00 per capsule with your seed. We only accept cheques that can be drawn on a UK bank account and these should be made payable to “Andrew Bannister”.

Alternatively, if you wish to pay by phone please call 07864 919935. Unfortunately, we cannot accept credit cards details verbally but we can send you an invoice via PayPal.
