Ordering plants

Plant Descriptions and names:

The naming of plants, particularly orchids, is a contentious issue. We cannot guarantee to describe and name plants correctly and are not liable for any inaccuracies. However, we make every effort to include the correct nomenclature and to accurately identify the parent plants. The descriptions in these listings are given in good faith and are intended to be representative of what we expect the plants to look like when mature. Photographs of the young plants are representative of the stock we hold. All photographs of flowers depict actual plants we have grown.

Availability:

Plants are offered strictly subject to availability. Every effort is made to ensure stock on this site is reviewed and updated regularly. However, occasionally, we may be unable to supply a plant you have ordered. In such an event, we will contact you to discuss alternative plants which may be acceptable as a substitute, or we will return payment if so requested.

Prices:

Prices on the website are subject to change without prior notice. Latest online pricing supercedes all previous prices. 

Postal Charges:

Postal charges are calculated by individual item and may change without prior notice.

Payment:

On-line: Payment for goods ordered on the web site is made through PayPal using credit or debit cards. You do not need a PayPal account to do this. This ensures your transaction is secure.

Post: If you would like to order by post please print a copy of our order form and send this together with your payment to Orchid Alchemy, 5 Bourne Road, Corby Glen, Grantham, Lincolnshire , NG33 4NR. We only accept cheques that can be drawn on a UK bank account and these should be made payable to “Andrew Bannister”.

Phone: If you wish to order by phone please call 07864 919935. Unfortunately, we cannot accept credit cards details verbally but we can send you an invoice via PayPal.

Delivery:

Plants are usually dispatched Monday to Wednesday. We aim to process orders within 5 days of receipt. However, during the winter months delivery may be delayed if frosts are forecast. We will notify you of delays. Tropical orchids will be sent in their pots but we may send terrestrial orchids as un-potted dormant tubers. We take upmost care in packaging of plants to ensure they are protected. At present we are unable to accept orders outside the European Union.

Damage to plants:

Damaged goods must be notified to us within 7 days of receipt. We cannot be held responsible for any damage that has arisen once goods have arrived or from failure of the service provided by third party couriers or delivery firms. Our liability in respect of any claim shall be limited to the purchase price paid for the goods. All transactions are governed by the laws of England whose courts alone shall have jurisdiction.

Cancellations:

You may cancel your order at any stage of the ordering process on this website with no charge. However, once you have entered your card details, your card will be debited immediately. At this stage there is a minimum charge of £2.00 or 5% of the order transaction, whichever is the greater, for a cancellation. Cancellation for orders placed using a cheque will incur no charge.

Refunds:

We hope you will be pleased with your purchase. Should you wish to return anything bought from us, we will be happy to refund or exchange a product provided it is in fully re-saleable condition. Returns should be made within 28 days in appropriate packaging. Your rights to return goods are protected under the EU distance selling directive. Seed sowing service

As well as the terms and conditions stated above the following terms also apply to the seed sowing service: 

Payment:

The seed sowing fee is payable in advance and the remainder is due for payment within 30 days of us notifying you that your plants are ready.

Postage:

Postage and packing costs for sending flasks or young plants will be at cost and payable prior to delivery.

Cancellations:

If you fail to accept the ordered quantity, any remaining plant material will become our property.

Disclaimer of liability:

Orchid Alchemy will do everything possible to ensure germination and growth. However, success cannot be guaranteed and we therefore accept no liability for lack of germination or failure of plants to reach maturity.
