Dendrobium falcorostrum is a wonderfully scented species from Eastern Australia and has been voted the best native orchid by the locals. Plants flower in early spring and can have as many as 20, 3-5cm flowers pure white with yellow and red markings on the lip. Plants usually grow in Antarctic beech trees up to 1400m in altitude where the habitat is often cool and cloudy so plants should not be given a dry winter rest, it does mean however they are very cold tolerant because temperatures can fall to -8C but we do not recommend being so drastic with them in cultivation.
