Cattleya bicalhoi is a compact plant from the Organ mountains of Brazil and can form a multi-growth specimen in a 10cm pot. It was originally named after John Day in 1876 but has had a complicated taxonomic status ever since (Laelia (Sophronitis) (pumila var ) dayana ). Still a gem by any other name with flowers up to 8cm across, which are pink with a dark purple flared lip and distinctive dark veins.
